When Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, senior leader of the BJP and its candidate from the Janakpuri Assembly Constituency, went for campaigning in Chankya Place Part- 2 and Mahavir Enclave Part-2, a large number of people turned up to greet him and vied with each other to extend him a warm welcome. He was also weighed in coins and laddoos at a few places.

Addressing a large gathering, Prof. Mukhi said that the country is passing through a period of economic depression for which Congress Govt. alone is to be squarely blamed. Prof. Mukhi said that due to this economic crisis, lakhs of senior citizens and retirees, who had invested their hard-earned income and retirement benefits in mutual funds taking them to be national bonds, have suffered a lot as the real value of one rupee has come down to just 30 paise. Due to the wrong economic policies of the Union Govt., which has an economist Prime Minister and an economist Finance Minister at the helms of affairs, the lives of people, in general and senior citizens & retirees, in particular, have become miserable. It is a sorry state of affairs that a few private companies have retrenched some of their employees while a few others have decided to effect a 20% cut in their salaries. This cut is all the more unfortunate in view of the sky-rocketing prices. Moreover, sadly enough, the Employment Deptt. of Delhi Govt. has miserable failed to generate any jobs worth the name during the last decade of Congress misrule. Prof. Mukhi promised that once a B.J.P. Govt. is in the saddle, it would ensure the generation of employment opportunities for the youth of Delhi.
