Press Release
Unauthorised colonies will be regularized, development work will resume”
New Delhi: Prof Jagdish Mukhi, BJP candidate from the West Delhi Parliamentary constituency, inaugurated his election office in Najafgarh today. The inauguration was attended by over a thousand people, who pledged to support him in the forthcoming elections.
Prof Mukhi’s campaign trail included Nasirpur village, Nawada, Om Vihar, Qutub Vihar, Shyam Nagar, Sitapuri, Ashok Nagar and Khajan Basti. He was accompanied by MLA Sh. O.P. Babbar, Sh. Harsharan Singh Balli, corporators Sh. Subhash Arya, Sh. Ramesh Gehlot, Smt. Sudha Sharma, Smt Renu Sharma, BJP district president Sh. S.N. Dang, Sh. Suman Sharma and hundreds of workers and supporters.
While addressing the public, Prof Mukhi today said that the Congress government in Delhi had issued provisional certificates to residents of unauthorized colonies just before the Delhi assembly elections, but these certificates had proved to be worthless. The assurances of both the Chief Minister and Union Urban Development Minister in this regard had turned out to be lies.
He also pointed out that the Lieutenant Governor had ordered development work worth Rs 700 crore in the colonies of Delhi, and the DSIDC, DJB and I&FC departments had even started work accordingly. However, till now only Rs 249 crore had been spent. The rest of the funds (Rs 450 crore) were never allotted by the authorities and hence all development work in these colonies has been suspended.
Prof Mukhi promised that the regularization of these unauthorized colonies would be the BJP’s priority when it forms government. The BJP will ensure fast-paced development work in these areas. He also assured the people that the bar on sale-purchase of land in all such areas will be lifted, for the benefit of the people.
Water for every village
In the rural areas of Najafgarh and Matiala, where residents face severe water problems, Prof Mukhi once again reiterated his promise to ensure proper water supply – for drinking as well as irrigation – within one year of being elected to the Lok Sabha.
Poorvanchalis pledge their support
At Qutub Vihar, Prof Mukhi was greeted with great enthusiasm by thousands of residents, mostly people from the Poorvanchal. All of them unanimously pledged support for the candidature of Prof Mukhi. They said they are aware of the hard work and dedication with which Prof Mukhi has been working for the last 30 years. Keeping in mind his past record, they believed that he would deliver on all his promises and hence they raised their hands to unanimously pledge support for Prof Mukhi and shouted slogans in his favour.
