BJP Candidate for West Delhi Parliament Constituency Prof। Jagdish Mukhi said that in connivance with Delhi Govt. the DISCOMs are going to increase its tariff by 60%. This issue has been kept abeyance till the forthcoming elections. Prof. Mukhi said the BJP will strongly oppose this hike. Prof. Mukhi said the DISCOMs had already hiked their tariff four times. Electric distributing companies had already cheating delhiites by installing poor quality fast running meters and despite having 49% share Delhi Govt. has failed to put a check on these companies. Delhi Govt. has provided Special Power, Special Court & Special Force to these companies to put a check on the theft of electricity, but by misusing these facilities DISCOMs are plundering Delhiites by sending huge fabricated bills.

Prof. Mukhi said not only these DISCOMs, NDMC is also providing electricity in the area falling its jurisdiction. Prof. Mukhi said NDMC has decided no hike in its tariff this year, while on the other hand these three DISCOMs are determined to hike the tariff by 60%. Prof. Mukhi said NDMC charging from its customers @ Rs. 1.25 per unit while all the three DISCOMs are charging @ Rs. 2.45 per unit from its customers. Prof. Mukhi said NDMC is charging @ Rs. 2.00 per kw from its customer as FIXED CHARGES while DISCOMs are charging Rs, 12 per kw for the same from its customers since 2005. In this these DISCOMs have charged more than 500 crore each year from its customers, Prof. Mukhi said that the Delhi Govt. has given full liberty to DISCOMs to plunder Delhiities with both hands.

Prof. Mukhi said when the single electricity rule governs whole Delhi and same regulator than why in a colony on one side of the road electricity is being provided at cheaper rate, while on the other side of the same road the higher tariff is being charged. Prof. Mukhi said in its recent Report The Central Power Research Institute has stated that out of 1300 Electronic Meter checked in this institute 90% meters have been found running fast. In this way these companies have been plundering approx. Rs. 300 crore every year forcefully from its customers.

Prof. Mukhi said the Public Accounts Committee, Delhi Legislative Assembly, Standing Committee of Parliament constituted on Power, Comptroller General of Accounts & Reserve Bank of India has also confirmed the scam in Privatization of Distribution of Electricity in Delhi.

Prof. Mukhi said BJP will strongly oppose the hike of 60% in tariff as proposed by DISCOMs in connivance with Delhi Govt. and will compel DISCOMs to withdraw this hike.
